    HI,

    I am on F-1 visa since Jan 2007. and got started my OPT in August 2009. I have on campus income through out the year in 2009. so how do I file the taxes, n which forms. for tax return 2009.

    also I got married to a F-1 student in Jan 2009. She is also having her OPT started in August 2009. She has income only on OPT (from Aug to Dec 2009) so which forms she should also file.

    my wife did paid her college fee in Jan 2009. and we have paid the rent through checks on leased apt.
    So can she/we ask for deduction of any kind?

    also which status we have to fill in. "Married filing jointly/separately".

    please reply as soon as possible.

    Hi guys.

    One of my favourite features in Flash is Trace Bitmap. I am currently trying to produce a print catalog and wanted to use this effect. I was wondering if there's any other programs that offer a similar feature, or otherwise what is the best way to trace a photo in flash and export it to another program.

    Any help would be much appreciated.

    Sen. Patrick Leahy ( D-Vermont ) introduced the Uniting American Families Act ( S. 424 ) earlier this year; it has 18 co-sponsors. The bill would allow same sex couples the same immigration rights as married heterosexual couples. Passage of the bill is likely to be tied to overall immigration reform.


    At the moment, same-sex partners of legal immigrants do not have the same rights to dependent status that heterosexual spouses get. This is true even if the couple is legally married in their home country. Often, the "dependent" partner must apply for a B-2 visitor visa at the consulate, to accompany his/her partner. This visa is discretionary, and consulates could refuse to issue it. In addition, B-2 status does not allow the dependent partner to work in the US. Many heterosexual dependent spouses have a status that doesn't allow them to work either, however.

    Senator Leahy�s bill would add the term �permanent partner� to sections of current immigration law that refer to married couples, and would provide a legal definition of those terms.

    I have H1b Stamped in Jan (Approved in 2007 valid till 1 Oct 2010). My Petioner is well run lawful consultant company (have filed 100+ H1bs since 2001) and he wants me to come to US. My Petioner has in-house as well Client side Projects.

    I am having around 8 years of IT experience and Graduate degree in Computer Science. I have worked in past as full time employee with US' No.1 IT Manufacturer in India & have travelled to US twice on Business Visa, I am currently working with a US Bank's Offshore Technology centre in India.

    My question is "Is it safe to travel in First week of March 2010 to USA with my H1b stamped in January 2008. In that case What documents I should be carrying along with I-797 Notice of Approval of I-129 Petition.

    IV seems to have a lot of folks here on a h1b with a non profit organization. My wife is currently doing her residency in a non profit organization on a h1b so basically she is not subject to the cap.
    After she finishes, and she looks for jobs, is it possible to get a h1b transfer in a profit organization without being subject to cap? Or H1b transfer is possible only with an non profit organization.

    Any inputs will be well appreciated.

    Since you do not belong india nor china, I assume your case is current. So, they probably approving your case. Good luck

    Most of the records are kept for 3-7 years in any organization, Based on that it seems unlikely that they will have the copy of I-94. You can try, you may succeed.

    I applied under EB2-NIW on July 28, 2007. Under the concurrent filing allowed at that time, I submitted NIW, I-140, I485, and EAD applications for me and my wife. I have changed jobs, and joined a new company last week.

    Since I filed a self-petition, my application should not be directly affected by this move. However what do I need to do to inform uscis about this change, so that my receipts/EAD etc. do not go to the wrong place, or worse, get returned by the post office.

    Please advice. Any additional info/experience would be great.

    My job description is "xxx mathematician" on the I-140, but what I'm actually doing is developing and supporting scientific programs. The industry is not IT. If I switch back to IT, could it still be "similar job"?

    The H1-B per se does not require any job experience, provided the educational qualification is exactly what the job requires. To quote, "For an H1B for a programmer, for example, a candidate must possess the required degree in the field of computer science, electrical engineering, electronics, or a related field." When the candidate has a degree in an unrelated field, the employer would usually need to prove that the candidate has work experience in the field in which the H1 is being sought.
